Elements and Principles of Design

 Description: This project included taking pictures of different elements and principles of design. I chose to take pictures of random items through out my house and outdoors. After we took the pictures we had to create a way to show them. I picked a PowerPoint. 


Extension Activity: An extension activity would be having the students sharing there favorite pictures and writing why they picked that photo. This would have them be social and work on different skills like speaking. Another one would be having them pick a favorite out of a partners picture and why they like it. 


This photo represents texture- Texture is the surface of an object which we sense through touch.

This photo represents space-Space in a work of art means feeling or depth of the area. 
This picture represents shape-two dimensions-height and width and are usually defined by lines
            This picture represents repetition- Repeating of an object or symbol all over the work of art.



This picture below represents balance-Symmetrical or asymmetrical composition in a work of art

 Description: For this project we used construction paper- one for the background and one for our fish. We also could use others for background for our ocean scene. She started to go over about fish and the habitats they live in, etc. Half stencil fish was already cut out so we traced it to have a whole fish. I used blue as the background for water. To make the fish we had to fold the construction paper in half hotdog style. We took the fish stencil and traced our outline of the fish. Unfolding the paper so it showed the whole fish. To make the paper weaving in the middle of the fish we had to first fold our fish in half. We took our 2" construction and placed it just under the fins. Then we drew a line down from the stop line to where the fold of the fish is and made 7 lines. We cut lines and weaved the paper through. We picked two other scenes for the ocean to complete.  Extension activity- This would be good to have them write about on a PowerPoint and share different ...

 Description- We worked in partners to create this artwork. First she talked about grid making with what jobs use grids. After she gave us a paper with a grid on it and we had to copy the design on the board onto our grid. We picked three colors out, one of our partners favorite, ours and a random one. We picked colors that matched sun. We also had three white papers. She had us fold all 6 pieces of paper in half, hot dog style. Then we put all three pieces of paper inside each other. On the top paper we marked with a ruler every inch. We then drew lines to connect the dots. We cut those strips in half (on the fold line). We had to connect our colored papers and white papers based off of our grids- we used tape and the white sheets to connect. We had them on a wood stick to hang up. Extension Activity- This would be something to teach with math when it comes to grids. Showing them different colors equal different numbers.

Print Making

 Description- We drew an ocean scene on a piece of paper. We transferred it to Styrofoam. We laid our sheet on top of it then traced it. After that we went onto the Styrofoam and traced/drew what wasn't showing up. Coloring the ocean scene was next. I tried to avoid the lines so it made the drawings to pop more. After I transferred it to water color paper. We had to put water on it then use a paper towel to dry it, we used a roller to transfer it to the water paper.  Extension activity- This could be used to write compound words. The students could do all the same steps but have it be compound words instead
